Changing The Way You Look at Things

I’ve got one of those Tassimo Coffee machines where you stick a coffee pod in the top, press a button and 30 seconds later you’re presented with a little pot of power up juice.

It’s a boss machine for two reasons...

1. Coffee.

The life blood of 6am starts.

2. It saves time.

A guy called Mark Fisher once made me aware of a thing he calls the coffee inefficiency, or maybe it’s the coffee cup inefficiency, I can’t remember.

Anyway, his theory is that people unknowingly waste hours, days and sometimes weeks of their lives doing mundane things inefficiently.

Let’s say you go into your kitchen and make a coffee and the whole process including getting a spoon, serving the coffee, standing waiting for the kettle to boil, stirring the coffee, going back and forth to the fridge for milk, washing your spoon etc. all takes 4 minutes.

If you do that every day for a year, you’ll spend 24 hours making a coffee.

Make 2 coffees a day and that’s 48 hours stood waiting for the kettle to boil.

48 hours - that's 6 full working days or 3 sessions a week at the gym for 16 weeks straight.

Now if you chop that down to 30 seconds per coffee by using a pod machine, then multiply that by a rate of two coffees per day and you’ve just saved yourself about 42 hours over the course of the year.

Plus, you’ll never have to wash a spoon again.

Now here’s another thing to think about...

One of those little pods costs about 30p.

30 pence for a Costa Americano, and you can view this in one of two ways...

You can be outraged that it’s actually about 5 times the price (per cup) than what you pay for a jar of instant coffee granules, or you can be like...

This coffee pod is a miracle.

I get a Costa coffee for a tenth of the price I’d pay in the shop AND its saving me loads of time.

I prefer the second view.

It's all about perception.

The same goes for being part of #TeamSteel

You can look at our monthly investment and be up in arms...

“£150 a month! I only pay £15 a month at my gym – that’s 10 times more expensive”

Or you can go...

“Steel Habitat is a miracle”

...because we actually cost a fraction what you’d pay a personal trainer and we get you the same (or better) results.

See you’d pay a good PT at least £30 an hour.

Train with them four times a week and you’re looking at £520 a month.

We cost about £35 a week.

That’s a lot like getting that Costa Coffee for 30p

AND

We get those results in a fraction of the time it’d take you to go it alone with no support in a commercial gym

...saving you from wasting 42 hours washing spoons and watching the kettle boil.

I think that Wayne Dyer quote is appropriate here:

“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change”
